Giggs feels Rooney ready to 'make a mark' with England squad at WC

London: Manchester United interim boss Ryan Giggs feels that the club`s striker Wayne Rooney is ready to make a mark at this summer`s World Cup with England`s squad.

Although Rooney has faced a succession of tournament failures since bursting onto the international scene at Euro 2004, Giggs feels that the striker would enjoy more success with the England national side in Brazil this summer.

According to the BBC, Giggs said that Wayne is a top player, is at a good age and is probably at the peak of his powers, adding that he knows for a fact that the striker cannot wait for the World Cup to kickoff.

The veteran defender said that Rooney, who is unlikely to play in United`s final Premier League clash against Southampton after suffering from a minor groin injury, is training and would be fine for the World Cup.

Giggs further added that Rooney has had a fantastic season and would be going away next week and is also working on his fitness so this little groin strain has probably helped the striker because he would be going into the World Cup relatively fresh.

England boss Roy Hodgson is due to name a provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup on Monday, the report added.
